The most welcoming regions in the world in 2023

There are many aspects that drive a tourist to choose one destination over another, or that hotel facility over another. The variables, as we know, are countless, ranging from the time of year, to what one is looking for, to what one finds. An increasingly important component, however, in consumer choice is the facilities' hospitality, or accommodations.

With the "Traveller review award", each year, "Booking" rewards the best facilities, in 220 different countries around the world, for their commitment to a first-class, professional service and hospitality, continuously throughout the year.

We now present the world's ten most welcoming regions according to the ranking of Booking.com.

An increasingly important component, however, in consumer choice is the facilities' hospitality, or hospitality. We now present the ten most welcoming regions of the world according to the Booking.com ranking.

10 - North Dakota (USA)
North Dakota is one of the most famous states in the U.S. Midwest, perfectly in the middle between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, bordered to the north by Canada and to the south by South Dakota, home of the world-famous Mt. Rushmore. In the western part flows the Missouri River, while in the eastern part we find the Red River Valley, a very fertile land and also the protagonist of the U.S. popular song of the same name. The state is also rich in oil fields.

9 - Newfoundland and Labrador (Canada)
Newfoundland and Labrador is a province in Eastern Canada, on the Atlantic Ocean. Newfoundland is an island, while Labrador is the mainland part. The capital is Saint John's, on the island of Newfoundland, first discovered by Giovanni Caboto. Newfoundland and Labrador was the last province to join the Canadian confederation, in 1949; it was previously a separate British colony. In addition to these two, the region consists of 7,000 other small islands.

8 - Limon (Costa Rica)
Also called Puerto Limon, it is a district of Costa Rica, capital of the canton and province of the same name. It overlooks the Caribbean Sea, and is one of the country's two most important ports, along with Puerto Caldera in the east. It is home to the largest Afro-Caribbean community in the country, and is one of the most populous cities in all of Costa Rica.

7 - Ninh Binh (Vietnam)
Ninh Bình is the capital city of the province of the same name in the Red River Delta region. It is located about 93 kilometers south of Hanoi, the country's capital. Characterized by spectacular karst reliefs, one of the highlights is Trang An is an area of scenic value officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

6 - Marlborough (New Zealand)
Marlborough, in Māori Tauihu, is one of New Zealand's 16 regions located in the northeastern part of the South Island. It is a very famous region for wine: in fact, 70 percent of all the country's production is concentrated here. The most widely grown variety is the Sauvignon Blanc, followed by the Pinot Black and the Chardonnay.

5 - Mures (Romania)
A historic district of Romania, it is located in the legendary Transylvania region. A predominantly industrial area, the sights are nonetheless remarkable. It is also known as "the city of roses." The main attraction of Târgu Mures is located in the south end of the square: the Palace of Culture with a 20th-century hall adorned in stained glass, which houses some of the main local museums. Its population is 45 percent of Hungarian origin.

4 - County Down (United Kingdom)
It is one of Ireland's thirty-two traditional counties and is located in the province of Ulster. It is also one of the six counties that make up Northern Ireland. Old Inn in Crawfordsburn is one of the oldest hostels in Ireland, with archives dating back to 1614. It is preceded by the Grace Neill's of Donaghadee which opened three years earlier. However, the former counts among its guests throughout history Jonathan Swift, Dick Turpin, Peter the Great, Lord Tennyson, Charles Dickens, Anthony Trollope, the former American president George H. W. Bush and C. S. Lewis, who spent his honeymoon here.

3 - Upper Austria (Austria)
Upper Austria is one of Austria's nine federal states. It is a very distinctive region with many souls. The capital Linz is a modern and futuristic city, contemporary art flourishes throughout the federation, but at the same time one can encounter areas where life seems to have stopped and flows slowly.

2 - Epirus (Greece)
Epirus is one of the cradles of ancient Hellenic civilization. This is a very unique region geographically, as it is part of southern Albania and northwestern Greece.

1 - La Rioja (Spain)
It is a province and one of the autonomous communities of northern Spain. It borders the Basque Country (province of Álava) to the north, Navarre to the east and northeast, Aragon (province of Zaragoza) to the southeast, and Castile and Leon to the south and west (provinces of Soria to the south and Burgos to the west). A very famous region for Spanish wines, there are also ancient dinosaur footprints, a major tourist attraction in the area.
